Jobs Program

SERVICES PROVIDED:
As the prime contractor of the JOBS Program with the Department of Human Services, BMCC facilitates job preparation classes at each of its three sites.  Placement into GED, ESL and college level classes, as well as work attachment is made in order to steer clients
toward self-sufficiency. The clients in the JOBS Program are referred by Self-Sufficiency, for those who are applying for or are on cash assistance.

SERVICIO PROVEIDO:                         Como principal contratista del Programa de JOBS con el Departamento de Servicios Humanos, BMCC facilita clases para preparación de trabajo en cada uno de sus tres sitios. Colocación en GED, ESL y clases a nivel de colegio, se hace también enfoque en empleo para poder orientar a la clientela hacia auto-subvención. Tonya’s House, Inc

Tonya’s House provides:  adult mentors to assist youth and their families with runaway and at-risk issues; a connection to counseling and health services; a link to an education program, and assistance with gaining employment; transportation; a safe and secure facility for daytime “safe place,” safety net as youth reunite with their families or a new living environment. Tonya’s House housing program provides emergency, respite and long term nights of housing.  The youth are provided a safe, secure and supportive living environment in which to build life skills and become self-sufficient.
SERVICIO PROVEIDO:                        La Casa de Tonya provee: mentores adultos para ayudar a jovenes y a sus familias con jóvenes a-riesgo y que se fugan del hogar; una conexión para consejeria y servicios de salud; eslabon para un programa de educación, y ayuda para conseguir empleo; transporte; un “lugar seguro” durante el día; lugar seguro al reunirse los jóvenes con sus familias un nuevo ambiente de vivienda.  El programa de vivienda de “Tonya’s House” provee vivienda para emergencia, descanso y a largo plazo para las noches.  A los jóvenes se les provee un medio-ambiente seguro y apoyable en el cual pueden aumentar sus habilidades de vida y alcanzar auto-solvencia.

Two programs are:
Books for Babies – This program provides a new mother with a bag of goodies which contains information on the importance of reading to her new baby, a book for the baby, a bib and other helpful information.  Bags have been provided to St. Anthony Hospital, Good Shepherd Hospital and Morrow County Healthy Families.
Book Harvest – Eastern Oregon Reading Foundation accepts gently used and new books during the year that will be distributed to needy children throughout Umatilla and Morrow Counties.  Books are distributed to children through their schools, daycares, E.O. Children’s Multi-Treatment Center, WIC, Department of Human Services, SMART, Head Start, Even Start and Healthy Families Programs.

Umatilla County Youth Investment Program

SERVICES PROVIDED: The YIP is money that has been set aside for agencies, school districts or individual families to purchase services for YIP.  The goal of the YIP is to reduce the dropout rate, homelessness, and youth's potential for involvement with Services to Children & Families and Juvenile Court.  This fund is available to provide services to all identified YIP youth residing in Umatilla County.  These are at-risk youth who qualify through one of the
following categories: 
1) behavior problems at school, at home, or in the community which are significant and present over a period of 6 months or longer;  2) problems in a family of non-involvement, neglect, or severe family conflict; or
3) youth involved in committing status offenses or misdemeanor crimes that have not been found guilty of these crimes in court.  (Youth released from probation and parole do qualify for YIP funds.)

SERVICIO PROVEIDO: El YIP es dinero para agencias, distritos escolares o familias individuales para comprar servicios para YIP.  La meta de YIP es reducir el porcentaje de estudiantes que abandnan la escuela, personas sin hogar, y el potencial que los jóvenes se involucren con agencias de Servicio para Niños y Familias y Tribunal Juvenil.  Estos fondos estan disponibles para proveer servicios a todas las personas jóvenes identificadas a través del YIP que radican en el Condado de Umatilla: 
1) problemas de conducta en la escula, en el hogar, o en la comunidad y que estos son significantes y han ocurrido durante un periodo de 6 meses o mas;
2) problemas en una familia en la que no hay involucración, negligencia, o graves conflictos familiares; o
3) involucración juvenil en cometer ofensas graves o crimenes menores en los que no se ha encontrado culpable ante el tribunal.  (A los jóvenes que han sido liberados de estar a prueba y en libertad condicional si califican para fondos del YIP).
