The Arc Of Umatilla County

MISSION STATEMENT: The ARC of Umatilla County advocates to enhance the dignity, expand the opportunities and protect the rights of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

SERVICES PROVIDED:                        The Arc of Umatilla County is a non-profit organization of members who work together seeking to improve the quality of life for all persons who have intellectual and developmental disabilities.  The Arc provides guidance, referrals and group activities for individuals and their families.  The Arc contributes to public awareness both on prevention issues concerned with the acquisition of developmental disabilities and on the needs, rights and abilities of persons who have developmental disabilities.  Through its membership meetings, guest speakers, media campaigns, legislative actions and community projects, The Arc meets its goal of advocating for the rights of citizens with developmental disabilities

SERVICES PROVIDED:                          After appropriate documentation has been provided and authenticated, services
are arranged on an individual basis, with the student directly involved.
Disabilities will differ greatly from student to student, so accommodations are
provided on a personal basis. The variety of support services for students with
disabilities include some assessment and evaluation advocacy, accommodations
in the classroom, appropriate test-taking situations, special adaptive technology, taped texts, resource & referral information and other services as needed.

PERSONS SERVED: Any BMCC student with a documented disability. Disabilities (including
mobility, vision or hearing impairments and other visible and invisible disabilities) often require special services to provide equal access to the educational setting. Eligible disabilities are defined in the American Disabilities Act.
